More about the skiing in Winter Park

  • So what's it like?

Pre-book your lift pass & save up to 50% against in resort pricing

Winter Park offers some of the best skiing in the States at a great price, and is really easy to get to - just a 1.5 hour transfer from Denver. Colorado is known for getting huge snow falls of the lightest powder, and Winter Park is no exception receiving close to ten meters in an average season. It’s one of the largest ski resorts too with a great range of slopes from excellent cruisers to some great back bowls, whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned pro there is something here for you. The new village at the base of the slopes has a handful of restaurants and bars, plus some very good value accommodation. You’ll want to head into the town of Winter Park on some nights, just 5 mins from the ski resort, to experience a real American town.

    Ski information

    Beginners

Apart from a variety of beginner runs, Winter Park has its own dedicated beginner area called Discovery Park, with gentle runs, adventure trails and first timers race course.

    Intermediates

Head for Vasquez Ridge and Winter Park and enjoy! Wide open perfectly groomed cruising runs such as Jabberwocky and Sundance abound. Winter Park's ace in the pack is Parsenn Bowl where 99% of the bowl terrain is designed for intermediates.

    Advanced

Experts will revel in the delights of Mary Jane, where you can test your skills on moguls and steeps galore and hone your powder skills at Parsenn Bowl. Another 435 acres of exciting and challenging terrain awaits at Vasquez Cirque.

    Nightlife

Nightlife in Winter Park is fairly casual during the week but does liven up at the weekend when the locals come up • for an après ski drink then Lime is always a good shout, with happy hour drinks and free nachos you can’t go wrong • Club Car and Cheeky Monk are also good places to head within the ski village • in the town of Winter Park you find some friendly and inexpensive American bars which are full of character - Deno’s is one of our favourites

    Activities

    · Dog sledding · Snowshoeing · Sleigh rides · Inner tubing · Ice skating · Snowmobiling · Cross-country skiing · Hot sulphur springs · Day at Sol Vista · Berthoud Pass for a backcountry paradise

    Eating out

Winter Parks ski resort village has some quirky restaurant whereas its town has more traditional American places to eat • in Winter Park ski village our favourites are the good Mexican food at Lime, Cheeky Monk offers a bit of the Alps in the Rockies and if you are after quick and easy then Goodys is brilliant! • in the town of Winter Park there is a wider choice with Hernando’s pizza being a local institution and Deno’s does great American fare, but there are lots of grills and pubs here – even fast food if you really want to get in the American spirit!
