More about the skiing in Courmayeur

  • So what's it like?

A charming resort nestling below the majestic peaks of Mont Blanc

Sitting snugly beneath the impressive peak of Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc, Courmayeur offers an impressive ski area. With one of the most sophisticated snowmaking systems in Europe, fed by an unlimited supply of glacial water, Courmayeur ensures the high quality of snow cover right throughout the ski season. The sunny plateau at Plan Checrouit is the main skiing area and the starting point for a network of lifts covering the open bowls on the front face of the mountain.

    Ski information

    Beginners

There are several gentle nursery slopes situated at Plan Checrouit and Maison Vieille, however these can only be used when accompanied by a ski instructor. Tuition is excellent and the wide beginners slopes are good learning grounds in beautiful surroundings, although the gradient can be steeper in places than an average blue run.

    Intermediates

Courmayeur is the perfect resort for intermediate to good skiers, with an abundance of testing runs, including a huge choice of treeless bowls, challenging mogul fields, steep gullies and wide open pistes.

    Advanced

The challenging descent from the Cresta Youla to Val Veny entails a long run of 9kms and the Competizione - unpisted, fresh snow or moguls is a must.
