  • So what's it like?

    Great for winter activities

    Iso-Syöte is a unique winter wonderland escape. The hotel and cabins are located at the top of the fell, a self contained village, surrounded by snow covered trees turning the landscape into something out of a fairy tale. The scenic downhill skiing is ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers. You also have the opportunity to try out a host of incredible winter activities, from snowmobiling to husky dog sledging. This is a fantastic destination for an all round winter holiday - with a difference!

    Ski information

    Beginners

    Skiing in Iso-Syöte is mainly suited to beginners with smooth runs down the fell. There are two dedicated family runs.

    Intermediates

    Ski from the hotel and cabins. There are well groomed slopes and the Freeride run through the trees will delight you.

    Advanced

    There is not a great amount of challenging skiing but 7 slopes are floodlit until 7pm or 8pm in high season on many evenings so you can enjoy the amazing dark Arctic sky with crisp snow under your skis.

    Most of the activity takes place around the hotel which has a night club if you wish to dance the night away.

    Other information

    We recommend that you bring long thermal underwear and warm, light layered clothing to wear under the Arctic suits provided with activities. Hand and/or toe warmers are highly recommended, great for children or anyone that needs them when the temperature gets seriously cold.

    There is a ski bus (costs 2 € per person each way), that runs twice a day from the hotel to the bottom of the slopes. Anyone new to skiing or need to do shopping, have to use the ski bus. It is also possible to take a taxi if preferred (cost approx. 15€). The ski bus does not run on sat and Sunday and during public holidays.

    Families

    Iso-Syöte is a wonderful family resort with the hotel, cabins and services right next to the slopes. There are two dedicated children's ski slopes as well as a snow tube park which is great fun. Visit the Children's Nature Trail on the edge of the national park and learn about the winter activities of the local animals. There is also a great range of activities to be enjoyed making this the perfect destination for adults and children alike.

    There is also a day care centre in resort, for which bookings can be made at your hotel reception. In 'SnowWorld' kids can ski in their own area with easy button lift, magic carpet lift or rope lift. There's plenty for them to do if they're skiing for the first time and for kids who are more experienced on the slopes there is a kids area with race track and mini rails.

    The Hippula daycare centre offers qualified staff who will playing and make handicrafts with the children and keep them occupied whilst you're enjoying the slopes.Hippula is open during the winter holiday weeks and during Easter at 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., at other times only on Saturdays at 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Prices approx. 5 €/hour/child and sibling prices 4 €/hour.

    FREE lift pass for children 6 years old and under, if skiing with an adult and wearing a helmet.

    FREE First time or Improver Ski or Snowboard package for a second child, if 2 adults & one other child pre-books the same. Not available for High Season departures (13/12, 20/12, 27/12, 03/01& 12/02).
