So what's it like?
Canadian skiing at its best, perfect for all abilities
Whistler was the host of the 2010 Winter Olympics and is one of the world’s best ski resorts. The skiing is endless with two mountains towering up from the village offering well over 200 runs, made up of perfect beginner slopes and slow speed areas, great intermediate bowls and tree lined runs, plus some of the best advanced terrain to be found – all of which is regularly covered in large dumps of snow. Ski down either mountain and you’ll ski into Whistler’s pedestrian village with great après ski and a huge choice of restaurants, which are all surprisingly inexpensive given how popular this resort is. If you can pull yourself away from the slopes then the great shopping, spas and winter activities will keep you very well entertained.
Ski information
Beginners
Beautiful scenic runs gently meander down the mountain and finish off at the village so a well earned 'pick-me-up' will definitely be the order of the day.
Intermediates
Enjoy skiing on slopes groomed to velvety perfection and beautiful long cruising runs, not to mention the incredibly spectacular scenery. Take the Peak chairlift to the top of Whistler mountain and enjoy the blue Peak to Creek run.
Advanced
The 12 massive high alpine bowls offering endless off-piste challenges and oceans of powder. The 3 glaciers ensure 100% guaranteed snow all season. Recommended is the Blackcomb Glacier, accessed by Spanky's ladder and Whistler, West, Bagel and the new Flute bowls for some powder skiing.
Nightlife
Probably the best après-ski and nightlife of any Canadian resort • lively post ski drinks at the GLC or Longhorn at Whistler base, Merlin’s at Blackcomb and Dusty’s at Creekside - which is where the locals go • for something a little more refined an après ski drink around the fire pits at the Fairmont is worth it and the bars at the Hilton and Four Seasons are very nice • later on the Brew House is where to head if there’s a hockey match on but all the bars within the village are pretty good • for clubs Mojos and Garfinkel are always popular
Activities
· Heli-skiing and sightseeing · Cross-country skiing · Sleigh rides · Snowshoeing · Snowmobiling · Zip trekking · Excellent shopping · Spectacular mountain-top sightseeing · Trips to Vancouver and local ice hockey matches
Eating out
A huge range and types of restaurants and all of which are really well priced • if you’re after cheap and cheerful then there’s plenty on offer, the Spaghetti Factory or Longhorn Saloon are popular • for really good Canadian fare (ribs, wings, nachos etc etc!) head to the Brew House • the Mongolie Grill and Sushi Village are good fun • massive range of fine dining restaurants, personal favourites would have to be the Aubergine Grill at the Westin and Sidecut at the Four Seasons
