Frequently Asked Questions

How many pieces of luggage am I allowed?

This is airline dependent. If you are flying with Thomson Airlines (which most of our passengers do) then there is no limit on the number of bags but the total weight allowance per passenger of 20kg may not be exceeded. For example, the weight limit is 20kg and you are able to have two separate bags weighing 5kg and one bag weighing 10kg.
For other airlines please refer to the table for luggage number and weight allowances. In many cases it may be best to contact the airline directly.

What is ski carriage?

For the most part, ski carriage includes transport for one set of skis and poles or one snowboard and bindings. If flying with Thomson Airways (which most of our passengers do) ski boots are not included in the cost of ski carriage. The conditions of ski carriage do vary between airlines so please check the table for further details and contact the airline if necessary.

Why do I have to pay for ski carriage?

One of the most important things that people don’t realise about ski carriage is that it is a form of insurance. In the unfortunate event that the airline misplaces your skis or snowboard, the cost of ski carriage will cover your replacement hire ski equipment until your own turns up. Furthermore, it is the charge for additional ski related baggage so you can still have your normal baggage allowance (which will vary per airline)

If I pay for ski carriage, can I put more than one pair of skis in the same bag?

Simply put, no. Ski carriage charge refers to one set of skis or one snowboard only. If you have 2 pairs of skis or 2 snowboards then you have to pay carriage for both. They can be transported in the same bag providing that it does not go over the weight allowance. Please see the table above to confirm the ski carriage policy of the airline you are flying with.

Can boots be carried on board the plane as hand luggage or should they be checked in?

Whether or not you can take a boot bag as hand luggage or whether it should be checked will depend on the luggage dimensions and weight allowed by the airline you are flying with. Please double check the table for more information or contact the airline directly.
If you are flying with Thomson Airlines, boot bags will count towards your overall weight allowance and we recommend that boots are packed into your hold luggage to avoid any excess charges. Please note that boot bags are not included as part of ski carriage when you pre-book with Thomson Ski and fly with Thomson Airlines.

Do ski helmets need to be transported as hold luggage or carried as hand luggage?

Whether you can carry your helmet on board will depend on hand luggage restrictions. Please refer to the table for more information. If they do not fit the hand luggage dimension and weight allowances then helmets should be packed as hold luggage.

Do infants have luggage allowance?

If you are travelling on Thomson Airlines with an infant then they are entitled to a baggage allowance of 10kgs per infant and you can also bring a pushchair and car seat. If you are not flying with Thomson then please check directly with the airline about their rules for infant luggage.
