Lake Tahoe has 12 ski areas around it providing winter sports for all! The most famous is Heavenly with a fantastic snow record and runs in both California and Nevada. The brand new gondola linking the hotels on South Lake Tahoe to Heavenly makes access quick and easy. The other resorts around the lake can be reached by local bus services, paddle steamer across the lake (high season only) or with your rental free car (car hire is recommended for Tahoe).
